Horseback fishing tours into alpine lakes of Kananaskis Country,just south of Banff National Park. There are a good number of high mountain lakes in southern Alberta that are ready for the most adventuresome of fly fisher people from beginners to experts.

Southern Alberta Fly Fishing Outfitters is the only fly fishing company in the province permitted to access alpine lakes in Kananaskis Country along the Continental Divide by horseback. This provincial wilderness area is the southern extention of Banff National Park where we utilize 7 different mountain lakes. With this many different lakes to choose from we can offer different types of trips from lakes we can ride right up to, too lakes we need to take a short 1/2 hour climb up to these hidden gems to lakes we don't need to ride as far in as others. By traveling via horse for an hour or two you will arrive fresh legged and ready for a short hike to the pristine emerald green mountain lakes awaiting you. Here you will fish for Cutthroat Trout that have only a few short months to fatten up before the long winter freeze, thus giving the fly fishermen a frenzy of action on many different fly patterns. We can also offer a different species of fish at some of the lakes such as Arctic Grayling.

All our horses are trained and experienced in the mountains with years of knowledge of these trails and dealing with inexperienced riders day in an day out.
